Interested in joining our research team?
There are currently opportunities for prospective team members in my research lab:
Undergraduate students:
We have several opportunities for student involvement in ongoing research projects in the field and/or laboratory and we are looking for excited and motivated students to join our team. Take a close look at our research website and make sure that your research interests align with our current research projects. If you are interested in joining our research team, email me at ekpeterson@eiu.edu. In your email, describe your research interests and where you are in your academic career (major, year, etc.).
Please note that I am no longer able to accept undergraduate students from Colorado State University Pueblo.
Graduate students:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Illinois University offers a M.S. in Biology with thesis option, a M.S. in Biology with a non-thesis option, and an online M.S. degree. I am currently recruiting Master's students interested in pursuing a M.S. in Biology with a thesis option in the Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Illinois University. Your research interests should be closely aligned with the research questions pursued in the lab. We are also looking for team members that are hard working and motivated, looking to develop soft skills for their career (like leadership and working in teams), and are happy to contribute to the mission and values of the laboratory.
Funding opportunities for master's students are variable in my research laboratory, depending on current grant funding and funding opportunities through the Department of Biological Sciences. I am also interested in mentoring and collaborating with potential candidates that are interested in pursuing their own funding.
If you are interested in joining our team as a master's student, send me an introductory email with your CV and a cover letter highlighting how your research interests align with ours, your previous research experience (if any), why you want to attend a master's program, and what your career goals are after you graduate.

Postdoctoral Researchers:
I do not currently have funding for postdoctoral researchers, but I would be happy to discuss potential collaborations and work towards funding opportunities to support those collaborations!
