Interested in joining our research team?
There may be opportunities for prospective team members in my research lab:
Undergraduate students:
We have opportunities for student involvement in ongoing research projects in the field and/or laboratory and excited and motivated students are encouraged to reach out to us if you are interested in joining our team. Take a close look at our research website and make sure that your research interests align with our current research projects. If you are interested in joining our research team, email me at [email protected]. In your email, describe your research interests, where you are in your academic career (major, year, etc.), and provide the names of faculty that can serve as informal references (i.e., they do not need to write you a reference letter).
Please note that I am no longer able to accept undergraduate students from Colorado State University Pueblo.
Graduate students:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Illinois University offers a M.S. in Biology with thesis option, a M.S. in Biology with a non-thesis option, and an online M.S. degree. Space for graduate students is limited in my research laboratory but I am open to discussing future opportunities with potential students interested in pursuing a M.S. in Biology with a thesis option in the Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Illinois University. Your research interests should be closely aligned with the research questions pursued in our lab. We are also looking for team members that are hard working and motivated, looking to develop soft skills for their career (like leadership and working in teams), and are happy to contribute to the mission and values of the laboratory.
Funding opportunities for master's students are variable in my research laboratory, depending on current grant funding and funding opportunities through the Department of Biological Sciences. I am also interested in mentoring and collaborating with potential candidates that are interested in pursuing their own funding.
If you are interested in joining our team as a master's student, send me an introductory email with your CV, a cover letter (must highlight how your research interests align with ours, your previous research experience (if any), why you want to attend a master's program, and what your career goals are after you graduate), a copy of your unofficial or official transcripts from undergraduate degree, and a list of three references (with contact phone, email, and a description of how you know them).

Postdoctoral Researchers:
I do not currently have funding for postdoctoral researchers, but I would be happy to discuss potential collaborations and work with you towards funding opportunities to support those collaborations! You do not need to have already graduated, but you should be ABD and close to graduating at this stage. If you are interested in joining our team as a postdoctoral researcher, send me an introductory email with your cover letter (must highlight how your research interests align with ours, the research you would like to pursue as a postdoc, your previous research experience, why you are pursuing a postdoc, and what your career goals are after you finish your postdoc), CV, unofficial transcripts from your PhD, and a list of three references (with contact phone, email, and a description of how you know them).
